• Guest House

This is a post that I’ve been really excited about. We started having the vision for a guest house about  a year and a half ago.  There’s an extra house on our property that we were not using and we started playing around with the idea of turning it into a guest house. After some thinking and praying another missionary friend came to us sharing the need for a place to stay for several missionaries.  There are several families who live in Northern Kenya in the desert regions, and they come down country to restock every couple months. Finding a place to stay that is cheap, clean, and safe is not so easy. Especially when a lot of these families have several kids—up to 6! We prayed a little more, but knew immediately that we were supposed to do this! So we started last July to build onto the small house, creating a bit more space. It’s a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house. It sleeps up to 8! It was finished around the end of November and we had our first guests the beginning of December. We have come a really long way and still have more to do, but we are thrilled with how it has turned out so far.

It’s not just the northern missionaries who we host. We want our guest house to be a place where people can come if they need to get away (especially Nairobi friends who need to get out of the city!) to rest and feel rejuvenated. We are not advertising it to the public; it’s not an established guest house. But to people we know or meet through other friends who are doing ministry throughout Kenya. We even have a team of Americans coming next week that will be staying in it!

Here’s pictures of the whole house…

We hope that everyone we encounter through this guest house will feel welcome, be blessed, and leave refreshed.

    Dear Abby,

What a blessing this facility will become. Many times a support team, or couple, will want to visit to share your ministry with their home church. Inexpensive accommodations may make the difference whether someone can afford to make the trip.

A year ago my wife was able to travel to Zambia and spend six weeks with our missionary serving in their school and orphanage- all only possible by our missionary making their home available at a very nominal fee. Hotels would have made this trip an impossibility.

The Lord will use your guest house to enlarge your ministry, and open doors, and help a little with support for you.

    Blessings,
    Roger and Thanne

It looks amazing! What a change. I especially like the small, but sturdy table in the corner. It looks like the work of a real craftsman. Cant wait to see and use the house in about 95 days!
